How to get numeric snmp oid’s using snmpwalk

snmpwalkThis is a short tips to get numeric snmp oid instead of MIB resolutions. When run snmpwalk you will get MIB resolutions like this:

# snmpwalk -c mycommunity localhost -v2c .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.31

UCD-SNMP-MIB::ucdavis.31.3.1.4.22.67.73.68.49.52.67.48.48.48.54.95.99.107.114.45.73.88.45.68.111.119.110 = INTEGER: 0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::ucdavis.31.4.1.2.22.67.73.68.49.52.67.48.48.48.54.95.99.107.114.45.73.88.45.68.111.119.110.1 = STRING: “1562”

It’s so difficult when you need to add numeric snmp oids to your monitoring tools ex: cacti, nagios, zennos, etc. Simple way to get numeric snmp oid with add -On on snmpwalk command, please see below:

# snmpwalk -c mycommunity localhostĀ -On -v2c .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.31

.1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.31.2.1.21.22.67.73.68.49.52.67.48.48.48.54.95.99.107.114.45.73.88.45.68.111.119.110 = INTEGER: 1
.1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.31.3.1.1.22.67.73.68.49.52.67.48.48.48.54.95.99.107.114.45.73.88.45.68.111.119.110 = STRING: “1562”

Hope this help..
